I love this. Stories about doing the unexpected or changing your life or your views always get me. So happy for her and living in hope that her friend is somewhere, still cheering her on.
Thank you! I think what I loved about this story, aside from my own interest in gymnastics, is how unexpected it was. I had no idea there were adult gymnastics leagues or ways to compete post-college. And that's such a sweet and thoughtful sentiment about her friend cheering her on - I hope so, too.
I love this so much. I studied dance in university and injured my back during a class, so I had to quit. But not dancing took its toll. Then, in my 30s, I moved to a new town and realized I needed to meet some people. So I looked up adult dance classes and came across a studio that did adult hip hop and lyrical. I signed up and it turned out, they compete as well. For 8 years, I danced with them in annual competitions, in a parade, even in local theatre productions and it made my heart so happy. I also met some of my best adult friends there.
I love that, Heidi! I had no idea there were adult dancing competitions either! That must have been so gratifying, especially given that you were also forced to quit because of an injury. What a gift to be able to go back to it!
Go Angela! I know someone who hosts trainings for ANW, and it's intense. I am so inspired, even though I will stick to slower-moving activities like writing (with healthy stretch breaks). I also appreciate you recognizing stories like this, Lori. Thank you.

"Start before you’re ready." Thank you for those words & for your courage to reignite that fire inside you.

That's so incredible and makes me excited to try new things at 42 (almost 43). WOooo!!!
Yayy, I'm so glad! It really is amazing what we can do if we put our minds to it. Angela is a very inspiring example of that. :)

Thank you! And honestly, writing flexes my muscles in a way that intense exercise could never - sometimes it feels way more challenging!
True!
